Getting fit =! Losing weight

8 01 2012

Working in the fitness industry the most common question I get is “how do I get fit?”

This in turn puts people on the wrong path because how do most people determine the term fit?

For 80% of people “fit” = lose weight and tone up.

To lose weight and tone up you would need to train in a different way to people who want to be fit.

How to avoid training the wrong way.

1. Know exactly what you want.
To goal set on fitness, first find a photo of the physique you want to look like and work towards this. You may think it’s getting fit, but most of the time you actually need to lose weight.

Because generally speaking people who are overweight can also be fit.

2. Know how to train.
Research how to train for your goal, walking may not help you achieve your goals and also lifting weights by itself probably won’t either.

Simply speaking would a marathon runner train like a sprinter? No they have different methods for different sports so different goals have different training techniques.

3. Stick to it!
How long have you been in the shape you are now and want to change it?

1…2…5 years?

Do not expect in 1 to 2 months for your body to change after you have been doing what ever you wanted for the past x amount of years.

If you have any questions in regards to this please feel free to comment and I will put you on the right path for success!
